Fees

The fees for adopting dogs and cats from Sacramento County vary according to weight and sex of the animal. Unless otherwise indicated, all fees listed include spay/neuter costs and vaccinations.  If the animal has already been spay/neutered no additional fees will be added (see chart for details). Payment may be made in cash, debit card, or Visa or MasterCard. Unfortunately, we cannot accept checks.

License Fees - $15 per year for altered animals over four months of age who will live in Sacramento County. $150 per year for unaltered animals. (View Licensing Page)

Low Cost Rabies Shots: $5 during the Wednesday night Rabies Clinics.  Cash Only

Micro-chips - All animals are micro-chipped (If not already done), before being released.
On the 1st Wed of each month you may micro-chip your animal for $20.

Vaccinations - We give the "7 in 1" vaccinations plus required rabies for those four  months and older - prices vary.

Surrendering Your Animal for Euthanasia
$15 for Euthanasia + $30 Impound and Processing:     Total fee $45
Exception - mice, rats and hamsters:                         Total fee $15.00

Livestock such as sheep, cows or pigs are not accepted for euthanasia.
Once the animal is relinquished it becomes the property of the County.

Surrendering a Stray - No Charge

Redeeming (Picking Up) Your Animal -if impounded or picked-up as a stray - $30 Impound Fee plus applicable board and care charges. If your animal was not licensed or vaccinated, these services will be performed before the animal is released and applicable fees charged.

Citations for not having a license: The minimum fee to clear the citation and purchase a license is $25.
