Stuffed Animals Are Better Choices for Easter

After Easter, shelters across the nation are bombarded with unwanted rabbits and chickens that were given as Easter gifts. Once the reality of caring for the animal has set in, people “throw them away” at shelters.

When those baby rabbits and chicks conjure up warm childhood memories, resist the temptation to buy them for your children or grandchildren during the holiday.

Rabbits and chickens are excellent pets for many people, but as with any decision to add a pet to your family, research and careful consideration are required. Rabbits and chickens require proper feeding and shelter and time to properly care for them – something many of today’s families cannot spare. like cats and dogs, rabbits need to be spayed/neutered and micro-chipped because they can easily escape.
