Amber’s Story

Photograph of Amber the dog laying on a spa cover.

I am a researcher. I like to have as much information as possible before making any decision – big or small. So when I decided to adopt a dog in October of 2000, I knew I wanted a medium to large, short-haired pup but I also knew my new dog’s coat and size was just half the battle. I needed a smart, sweet, and caring animal too. Amber was that dog. Her eyes and her coat got my attention right away. I had never seen such a unique and (in my opinion) beautiful dog. I could also tell that she was a very affectionate animal. But it was the encouraging comments from Animal Care staff about how sweet Amber was that convinced me she was the dog for me.

Amber had been adopted once and brought back because she had a simple cold. Although the thought of this dog not having a home was heartbreaking, I was so thankful that Amber was there for me to take home. Amber’s a special dog and has been a wonderful addition to my family.
