Annie’s Story

Photograph of Annie the dog receiving a treat.

It was September 2000 and I had no intention of getting another dog because I already had a full house of pets.  My daughter was dog-shopping, so I went along for the ride and to give my input. Little did I know that I would be stopped dead in my tracks by a sight that took my breath away.  It was love at first sight....my ideal of the perfect dog........hairy, flop eared with a soulful gaze.  I immediately knew she was my dog!  I learned that she was over 10 years old, and had been turned into the shelter because of divorce, and the family couldn't keep her.  Of course that made me want her all the more.  I struggled with the impracticality of having a 70 lb older dog with a load of fur.  Lucky for me that I made the decision to take her home.....my Annie has been a best friend of the four-footed variety since.
